Last weekend I had my first paid wedding gig! It was for a former co-worker and friend Guin, and her now hubby, Allen. The ceremony took place at Niagara-On-The-Lake, and the weather was fantastic for a wedding! It was a perfect, small wedding.. with close family and friends there to celebrate. I had a great time and gain some great experience for my next gig coming up in September for my cousin Laura and her fiance Andrew. Thanks for letting me a part of your special day Guin! Congratulations on getting hitched!

Trails… By My House?!

July 7th, 2008, at 10:32 am by Adam

bikeride
I decided that since it was such a nice day outside yesterday that I would take a break from my start up running(I used to get bad leg pain running so I’ve tried to run off and on…. and now I’m starting to pick up the training again!) and take my bike out for a spin.

I didn’t really have a specific destination in mind, which always produces the best sort of trips. After eventually finding myself not sure where to go, I just happened to see a very large downward hill, which I couldn’t resist the speed and my bike ride ended up taking me east towards Streetsville. I’ve been there once and didn’t really see a whole lot.. neither the second trip I had. I did manage to stumble across a small path, but that’s all it was.. too small. So yet again I started off in to an unknown destination which landed me by the 403.

In a narrow strip to the north of the 403 is a string of hydro towers, but underneath there are a series of tracks/jumps what-you-call-it - for the skilled bikers and jumpers and such out there.. biking past this I kept going and to my surprise I found a wicked trail that follows The Credit River. I later found out it’s about 18km long! But at this point I’ve been biking for just about an hour and wanted to keep going but just didn’t have the energy. I turned around and took a mental picture of where I was so I’ll be returning very soon! So watch out as I plan on bringing my camera with me next time to take some photos of the trip.

I’m also thinking of buying a small point & shoot for such trips, instead of carrying my DSLR around on my back.. which makes for biking not as fun. Anyone have any favourites or suggestions?

Go Local Sports Team!

One of my newest favourite things to photograph are baseball jerseys and baseball hats.. I don’t know why but they just look amazing when photographed! Here are 4 sets of photos that I took last weekend, first of my new retro powder blue Toronto Blue Jays jersey:

Next up is a set of photos of our friend Aiden, who just returned from a trip out to New York and Yankee Stadium. Needless to say myself and my good friend Colin were very jealous, and even more so when he shows up with this jesey! It has a patch on one arm commemorating the years of Yankee Stadium, and another that has the All-Star patch for this years game.

Following that is Colin’s Phillies jersey. I photographed his hat a while back, but finally got around to taking a few photos of his jersey.. the prize of his wardrobe.

And finally is Aiden’s Oakland A’s team hat!

Discovering Ollie

June 26th, 2008, at 4:35 pm by Adam

Meet Ollie, aka The Spoochie Man. Please don’t ask what exactly a ‘Spoochie’ is, because the only answer I could give you is simply Colin looked over at him one day and exclaimed “Hey Spoochie Man!”. From that day forward he has been known as everything from Spoochies, Ollie to Risky McTakerson.

While at the cottage this past weekend, Ollie had the luxury of being outside, or ‘the outsidies’. He loves being outside, but must be in his harness, or he will be quite liable to take off after ‘the Chippies’.

Here is a small sequence of photos of Ollie searching, finding, glaring and attacking a helpless caterpillar.

1. Discover something new out in the yard.

2. Realize something different is moving.

3. Slowly approach to see what will happen.

4. Attack!

5. Eat.
